At last.....a bear sighting!

It was such a special moment to meet Grinder and Coola, two orphaned Grizzly bear cubs rescued from certain death when only a few months old back in 2002. Now residents at Grouse Mountain, living in a 5 acre enclosure, we were treated to both bears coming very close to us on an overcast early morning ride up the Grouse Mountain sky ride. Had it been a hot sunny day, the bears would almost certainly have been hiding in a cool spot in their woods so.....yet another clouds and silver lining moment!!

Can you spot our new young lumberjack in the next photo?

The lumberjack show was great fun and made all the more so by our tour party volunteer!!

It was an action packed morning to be followed by a sunny and calm sail across to Vancouver Island in the afternoon before meeting our next hockey opponents in Duncan. We again faced very strong opposition from the Cowichan U16 and U18 hockey players. The 2ndXI continue to progress in their standard of play but were always going to struggle against BC select players, we were 4-0 down at half time but kept the second half score to just 3-0. A very tight 1stXI match ended1-2 with a last minute goal from a penalty corner awarded just before the final whistle sounded.

Merchants were cheered on throughout by our team of supporters who also made a banner for us!

We waved the girls off with their Duncan host families wishing them a happy time. Everyone was hosted in either a pair or a four-I hope the families know what they have taken on!! I am sure we will hear all about it tomorrow when we set off on our Whale Watching trip!
