MTGS meets The Cougars

 Day three saw the start of our sporting activities of the tour. We had our first hockey training session in the morning and afterwards all the girls were excited to take on our first opponents; a local club: the Calgary Cougars.

We had a ceremonial exchange of gifts at the start of the game and after that we were ready to go. The 2nd XI were up first and faced some strong opponents. Throughout the afternoon both teams found the Canadian heat of 24 degrees a challenge to play in but put up strong performances and never gave up! Following the 2nd XI unfortunate 5-0 defeat it was time for the 1st XI game.

Despite dominating in the 1st half a lucky break from 'the cougars' left us 1-0 down at half time but a cracking strike from Ellie Parrott in the 2nd half put the final score at 1-1. We were treated to a BBQ and ice cream by our opposition after the games and all the girls enjoyed to chance to socialize with the Canadian players. After a long day of sport, tonight we hope to get some rest in preparation for the first netball matches tomorrow before we depart from Calgary and journey to Banff for the next stage in our Canadian adventure!
